Counting Colors

Some days it's orange, some days it's white,
Some days it's blue, nice and bright,
Adorned in golden, she loves to slip away,
Always loving to have her way.

Today she's dressed in purple hues
Speckled with a reddish blue,
A beauty that she is,
The Sky,
Have you ever wondered about it too?

Dancing in the Rain

The shadows shift rapidly,
The Sun makes way for the dark clouds,
Big, fat raindrops fall to the ground,
Quenching the thirst of people all around.

Water puddles as far as you can see,
Frogs skipping away,
The tiny green shoots peep with glee,
While the Koyal in the tree is quiet today.

The rains have their own charm,
For humans, plants and animals alike.

Bright green leaves dotted with sparkling drops,
Waves in the sea dancing merrily,
Birds ruffling their feathers,
The soul of the Earth rejoices with every shower.

When you're happy & you know it, clap your hands!

"Raindrops on roses
And whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things"
The words from one of my favorite songs. One of those numbers which always bring a smile to my face and instantly cheers me up. Happiness to me is a light headed feeling, of not wanting the moment to end and a glowing face. Now, who wouldn't want it to last forever? But well, it's only the absence of something which makes you appreciate it all the more. Without sounding too philosophical now, I'll now write about those which give me my dose of endorphins!
Flowers, birds, butterflies, trees, treks, mountains, seasides, puppies, et al (except any reptiles :P) make my ears perk up! Well, you've got it right- Nature and wildlife- my weaknesses. Being amidst nature makes me the happiest. And add to that the company of my favorite people- I'll be in heavenly bliss! Travel for me always needs to be …

Dr. Oetker FunFoods- Have you tried it yet?

Most of us these days have no time for a proper sit down breakfast. However, breakfast being the most important meal in a day, I usually end up grabbing a vegetable or an egg sandwich. I'm always on the look out for new cheese spreads, jams or just plain mayonnaise. So, that's when I came across the variants of mayonnaise from Dr. Oetker FunFoods. Apart from the plain mayonnaise, I also picked up the Tandoori and Burger mayo. All of these are eggless- so there's no need for the vegetarians to worry! :)

I usually make a plain mayo and lettuce sandwich when I'm in a rush. Other days I prefer sandwiches with vegetables in them. I mostly use finely chopped capsicum, carrots, onions & minced garlic. Add lemon juice to the mixture along with the mayo. Mix well and add it onto a slice of buttered toast. Cover it with another slice of toast. And voila! Yumm! Try it next time. You can also add cabbage in case you do have lettuce.
Since quite some time now, I avoid tea in the…

I wonder if the trees whisper , When their leaves rustle and swish in the breeze.
I wonder if the moon yearns, To come out in the day sometimes.
I wonder if the gushing water in the river, Rushes forth to reach somewhere.
I wonder if the tiny grass cry out in joy, When Dawn sprinkles dewdrops everywhere.
Oh, so many miracles, I cannot help but wonder.
How it would be if I could hear them chatter!

Must Watch Movies- 2017

I've been on a movie marathon since the past few weeks what with such fabulous movies releasing in theatres. Also, cleared my backlog of movies I'd meant to watch in 2016 too. I've made a list of the Top 5 movies which I absolutely loved. Thought, I would write about them so that, those of you who haven't watched them, put it on your "To Watch" list. 😊 Hidden Figures- It won the Oscars not for nothing! My most favorite movie so far and hence at the top of my list. The story is about three African American women who work at NASA- Katherine, Dorothy and Mary Jackson- three unsung heroes of history who were the brains behind one of the greatest space operations- the launch of an astronaut into the space orbit. Its a story of struggle, willpower and women empowerment. Most importantly, it's about lifting others up as you move forward. They value their families, colleagues and society and balance each one so well. Standing up for what is right and giving in so…

The Rose

The evening sun had just set,
The last of the dim twilight rays
Shone through the thick green foliage
Of the garden trees
And suddenly, I spotted a big red rose,
Fallen on the ground,
Wilting yet beautiful,
Plucked yet fragrant.

Some age like that,
Growing more beautiful by the day
Glowing with contentment
From the golden years.

Repair it. Fixit.

When was the last time you went for a check up? Doesn't your body give you signs that you need something? And then one fine day, give way unless you take good care of it. It's the same case with the house you stay in. Any building needs constant maintenance what with the heavy rains, the constant direct sun and wear & tear. Externally, a building may look okay but internally be damaged. Old, dilapidated buildings are seen at every nook & corner in Mumbai. You'll find one on every street and there's always the horrifying news of a building collapsing. But even then, the repairs are always postponed. Building failures can be divided off into two broad groups of structural failures & application failures. Most of the building collapses are due to low quality of material used, inadequately trained manpower and inadequate supervision in constructing the multi storey structures so commonly seen. Structural audit is a must for every building. Most societies consid…

Twirling her curls around her fingers,
Untangling the complicated knots
Of love & pain,
She looks into the distance at the golden glow
Of a Twilight sun
Which teaches her to let go
And allows darkness take over..

For tomorrow is a new day
For dreams, hope & love,
When they tangle together into the soul
To make her the one.

A yellow sunny day
Surrounded by lavender fields,
I felt as happy as a daisy
Under a blue sky with wisps of white clouds blowing steadily
A tiny brown squirrel scurried near me
Hunting for acorns amidst the greenery.

As Twilight approached,
Draped in shades of orange and red,
The grey crescent moon appeared
A regular visitor
Shining brighter as the night got blacker.

Do you see the rainbow too?
As the days pass and turn to years ,
Your Life in technicolor...

Faster, Cleaner, Better: Leading the Change

IndiMeets are always fun! This one especially which was held last Saturday in Mumbai in association with Berger Paints. What got me all excited was the "colors" bit- it has been years that I got my hands dirty with paint and colors, and so I eagerly looked forward to the fun afternoon. It was lovely to see some familiar faces as I entered. The Inditeam, warm as ever assisted us with all the event details. After the registration and a delicious meal at the Taj Vivanta ,where the event was being held, we seated ourselves amidst a lot of chatter and infectious positive energy in the room.

The host for the event, Anoop, kept us all at the edge of our seats with fun exercises and some leg-pulling. We started with musical chairs (with a twist, of course!). After warming up to some "Dancing with the Chairs", and some rounds of introductions for the new and old Indibloggers, we were all geared up for more. Bloggers were being recognized with vouchers for best tweets, insta p…
